Hi, I have a great new article coming soon. I promise. NOT as contraversial as the last one, LOL.
/* as an aside, I have to tell you, I have been using my "Would another developer be able to look at this sans comments and see exactly what it was doing, quickly?" stance as a rule when developing, and I gotta tell you I'm cranking out some dang beautiful code */
So, I was going to focus on writing tonight, however it was the Mt. Carmel fireworks in Berkeley Heights tonight. For those of you not from the area they are really the most amazing fireworks you've ever seen. I actualy usually hate fireworks because I have the internet, and television to entertain me. However, these are magnificent, the team that does them won the best fireworks in the world or something. I don't know, there are lots of rumors.I thought of you guys, so I took some pictures to share.So, for once there is nothing to do with development in a post. I hope it is still entertaining.
Below are the pictures. One last thing, to everyone that reminded me how awesome resharper is, thanks! I had let someone tlak me out of it a while ago and now that I have it back I love it! Anyway, enjoy!
Thumbnails, please :)
ReplyDeleteNobody ever diggs my articles :(
How come you've not been on GT lately?
ReplyDeleteomg how cool am i with my backward baseball cap all pushed to the side you totally want me.
ReplyDeleteBro, not cool making fun of Sara's brother..
ReplyDeleteI agree with Slack, thumbnails ftw. Or some cool ajaxified panel pops on mouseover or click. It really messed with your stylesheet. Mebbe Zindexes? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, where's the blue hair pics?
Second side note, maybe a pics subsection?
Don't say MySpace has it, MySpace is the devil.
I'm gonna have to agree with Guy with Yankee Hat. The sideways hat trend is pretty stupid. And everyone should be able to take fashion advice. When someone tells me my shrit makes me look like Ted Nugent I'm embarrassed, but thankful for the intel.
As far as the code commenting.... Some is good, too much is greatly infuriating. Also refactoring sucks. I always build my DAL/Business Rules very complex (read lots of overloads, tons of code) so I can pull off one line calls inside the actual application. It also promotes reusability which makes PM's secretly dance in the Forest of Plentiful Paperwork after they hear that.
I told a PM I could reuse 85% of my existing code base once and she looked like she was about to go into one of those the power of christ compels you full body heaves.

Comment.Send();
Connection.Dispose();
Favorites(i).Load();
Ix isn't thinking in a very Agile manner. Therefore, I agree with him.

ReplyDeleteHey, you still haven't put up a pic of the blue hair...
ReplyDelete``I have been using my Would another developer be able to look at this sans comments and see exactly what it was doing, quickly? stance as a rule when developing''
ReplyDeleteGood rule. Even better, if you can borrow someone else's eyes and ask them to try and explain what your code does, you can check if that matches the way you know it works. If not, weeeeell, there may be some work there still. :)
I was going to ask for a sample of that beautiful code, but then it struck me, that beauty, being in the Eye of the Beholder, is so subjective it'd just lead into another flame war. So never mind that.
Also, +1 for the blue hair pics.
