//TODO: #1

So, I used to post my reflections after my iterations are complete and I haven't been. Not because I haven't been doing any reflection,  but because my iterations have been different and more on the fly now that things are wrapping up. So, now I will be posting my fogbugz queue and going over the big things I will tackle the following weeks. Maybe I can get some advice, or just a thumbs up, or maybe a cheerleading squad? Anyway, I think it will help me to stay motivated and reflect. Here goes #1:

Ok, so tomorrow I am working with the consultant and I will be making the "Add New Business" page(#50). It's just a data entry form, hopefully wont take too long. I hope to tackle "Troubleshoot add/edit classifieds issue" as well (#36).

During the week I need to finish the import I started, (#39). I have discussed this and I am using a program called FMPro Migrator. I will let you know how this goes, so far so good.

That should take me most of the way through this week, with time for one more thing. I will keep updating.

OK, some unrelated things.

In response to my question about "Hextrupling" my knowledge base: Thank you to reader Alex De Gaston for letting me know that the correct terms are: Sextuple/Hextuple. (Shoutout to SlackMasterK as well)

The coolest thing I have seen on the internet in at least a month(this means a lot because I see a lot of kickin things on the internet): A Flowchart of "Today Was a Good Day" by Ice Cube

NYC Code Camp is Jan 10th!  Looking forward to presentations from Bill Robertson (Garbage Collection), Stephen Bohlen (TDD), and David Penton (Caching). If you are coming and see me please make sure to say hi. Really like networking at these events.

  1. Do you happen to know of any good free project management solutions? I've found some free ones, however they aren't so hot.

  2. Hi Sara,
    Saw the URL Rewriter task. You may want to check out http://www.codeplex.com/urlrewriter. It has full Apache mod_rewrite syntax support, and is even customizable with with modules, for rewriting that just can't be done through text.

  3. I like looking at other people's FogBugz listings to get a sense for whether mine are too specific or too general. Sara, do you feel this is a particularly good example? In general, they seem very feature-y and statement-y to me. More so than mine.
    Nice to see how other people are using it.

  4. @JB - I once was tasked with finding a free bug tracker, I found a lot of great open source things that could be easily customizable. Bugtracker.net was a good one.
    I also know, that for small companies FogBugz does have a start-up license for two people. I think that is really cool.
    @flipdoubt- do you use yours more as a bug tracker? I do mine mostly for tracking features that still need to be done, I also use it for bugs but since I tend to sit with a feature until it is done, and there are only three of us working on the site we tend to take care of bugs as we are working.

  5. Sarah,
    How did you or someone come with an estimate of 1 day 3.75 hours?

  6. We use FogBugz for both bug and feature tracking, but I did not do a good job of describing what I meant by feature-y and statement-y. Most of the items on your list sound like they would be spoken with one voice, not having some vague and some specific, some technical and some user-oriented. This is probably because you have three developers adding items rather than users sending things in via email, system engineers and others adding scheduled tasks. Ours looks a bit more like scratchings on a bathroom stall.
